• Introduction to Hefei
Hefei is the capital and largest city of Anhui Province, located in the centre part of East China. It is the second approved Comprehensive National Science Center in the country, which has attracted many prominent institutions and universities, including the University of Science and Technology of China and the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science under the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It boasts many talents both in the past and present, such as the famous upright officer Bao Zheng in the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127) and the Nobel Physics Prize laureate Yang Chen-Ning.
• Sanhe Ancient Town
Sanhe Ancient Town lies about 40 kilometres south of the Hefei city area. It gets its name from its three rivers: Fengle River, Hangbu River, and Xiaonan River. It has over 2,500 years of history: in the Spring and Autumn period, it was called Que'an; it became known as Sanhe during the Ming dynasty. In 1858 during the Taiping Rebellion, Chen Yucheng and Li Xiucheng scored a massive defeat over the Qing army, which became known as The Great Victory at Sanhe. Sanhe's old street is paved with stones worn smooth by hundreds of years of people and vehicles. The street is flanked by distinctive Hui-style buildings. The town has many featured cultural and scenic sites, including the former residence of the famous physicist Yang Chen-Ning. Learn more
• Memorial Temple of Lord Bao
The Memorial Temple of Lord Bao is a public commemoration of Yin Baozheng of Kaifeng Prefecture in the Song Dynasty. The Memorial Temple of Lord Bao is located in the eastern section of Huancheng South Road. It is the main building complex of Bao Park. Baogong Temple consists of the main hall, the second hall, and the tablet pavilion. The style is simple and solemn. The east side is Lingshiyuan, which is composed of stone carvings. Inside the exhibition, there are bronze statues of Baogong, dragons, tigers and dogs. Learn more
• Huangshan
Huangshan is located at the boundary of three provinces: Anhui, Zhejiang and Jiangxi. Nestled in the embrace of the surrounding mountains, this is the birthplace of Huizhou Culture. A long and storied history has left behind countless historical and cultural sites and natural scenery. Climbing the Huangshan Mountains is an absolute must. Enjoy Taiping Lake and get a taste of an unrestrained life of leisure in this open space between mountains and rivers. The Huangshan Mountains are full of wondrous pines and strange stone formations. A sunrise over the spectacular sea of clouds makes for an unforgettable experience. Historic Tunxi Street in the urban area is a representative example of local culture. The Ming- and Qing-era architectural style of the area is preserved in a relatively complete fashion. On the street, many old shops selling Huangshan specialities such as tea leaves, Anhui Ink, inkstones, and the Four Huizhou Carvings (carved wood, carved stone, carved brick and carved bamboo).
