The 38th Deep Space Exploration Academic Salon Concluded Successfully, Mars Exploration Achievements Attracted Attention
Date:2025-09-28

On the afternoon of September 28, 2025, the 38th Deep Space Exploration Academic Salon was successfully held at 1958 Café on the East Campus of the University of Science and Technology of China. This salon focused on the cutting-edge research results of Mars' internal structure and attracted wide attention from many researchers, teachers and students inside and outside the university.

The salon invited Professor Daoyuan Sun from the University of Science and Technology of China, and his two students, Huixing Bi and Mingwei Dai, members of the research team, to jointly give a report on "Constraining Mars' Internal Structure Using Martian Seismic Data Recorded by InSight". Huixing Bi, with the title "The Secret of Mars' 'Heart' - Seismological Discovery of Mars' Solid Inner Core", delved into the mysteries of Mars' core. By analyzing the Martian seismic data recorded by the InSight probe, the key characteristics of Mars' solid inner core were revealed, providing important seismological evidence for the study of Mars' internal structure. Her report was rich in content, rigorous in argumentation and progressive in reasoning, presenting the latest progress in Martian core research to the participants.

Mingwei Dai (University of Science and Technology of China / currently on an exchange visit at the Paris Geophysical Institute in France) gave a report titled "Partially Molten Low-Velocity Zones Reveal That the Martian Mantle Is Still Active", sharing his latest achievements in Martian mantle research. He pointed out that through seismological observations of the partially molten regions of the Martian mantle, it was found that the Martian mantle still has a certain degree of activity, and this discovery is of great significance for understanding the geological evolution of Mars. Mingwei Dai 's report has a unique perspective, bringing new insights and thoughts to the field of Martian mantle research.

This salon not only attracted nearly 40 teachers, students and researchers to participate offline, but also opened to domestic peers and a large number of scientific research enthusiasts through Tencent Meeting and Koushare Academic Live Broadcast (Link: https://www.koushare.com/space/330205/home). As of press time, the online view count has exceeded 6,000 person-times. The interactive Q&A session at the report site was in a lively atmosphere. Participants actively raised questions, and the two reporters answered patiently, achieving a remarkable communication effect.

The successful holding of this salon has provided an excellent communication platform for researchers in the field of deep space exploration, and promoted the collision and integration of academic ideas. As one of the important targets of deep space exploration, the study of Mars' internal structure is of far-reaching significance for revealing the formation and evolution of planets in the solar system. In the future, the Deep Space Exploration Academic Salon will continue to invite more experts and scholars to share cutting-edge research results, promoting the continuous development of China's deep space exploration cause.

We look forward to meeting all peers and scientific research enthusiasts again in future academic exchanges to jointly explore the mysteries of the universe.
